Prompting
AI Prompting is the most important aspect of creating a bot.
Prompting powers the AI chatbot within botmockups. We've made it incredibly simple—no need to be a prompting expert. Just describe what you want the bot to do, and it will work! No complicated formatting or prior experience required.
Here are some best practices to improve your bot and effective prompting:
Assigning a Specific Persona: Defining a clear persona or tone for the AI (e.g., friendly, professional, empathetic) can help shape its responses. By establishing the chatbot’s personality, you ensure its interactions align with your brand’s voice and expectations.
Example:
"You are Kelsey, a friendly and upbeat customer service rep for botmockups."
Define a Clear and Specific Goal: Clearly articulate what you want the bot to accomplish. The more specific you are, the better the results.
Example:
"Your job is to help customers book appointments and answer any questions they might have."
Craft Relevant and Targeted Questions: Ask questions that are directly related to the user’s needs and the chatbot's goal. This ensures personalized, efficient responses and helps the chatbot achieve its objective, whether it’s scheduling, providing information, or offering recommendations.
Example:
"What type of business or industry are you in?"
"Do you currently have a chatbot or are you starting from scratch?"
"What is the primary goal you want to achieve with your chatbot?"
Specify Constraints: Highlight any limitations or rules the AI should consider while processing the prompt, ensuring the response fits your needs.
Example:
Respond with 25 words or less.
Ask only one question at a time.
After collecting their name, avoid repeating it.
Maintain a casual, friendly tone.
Use simple, clear words and phrases.
Use Examples: Providing examples of correct responses can help guide the AI to produce outputs aligned with your expectations.
Example:
If the user wants to schedule an appointment, suggest tomorrow as the first available option and ask if they prefer a morning or afternoon time slot. You can say: "We can schedule an appointment for tomorrow. Would a morning or afternoon time work better for you?"
If the response isn't what you expect, refine and adjust your prompt. Experimentation can lead to improvements.
You can edit and manage the prompt of the bot for the specific intents for more control over the bot's response and customizing the bot's personality.
